Training Structure - Our Learning Style

Our 16-week comprehensive program is designed to help you learn and understand the principles and practices of Internal Family Systems®, Somatic Profiling and Embodiment practices to enhance your learning experience and provide you with the skills necessary to apply the principles and practices to your internal system, your patients/clients, and one another.

The program's structure is designed to provide therapists, health practitioners, yoga instructors and health coaches with a comprehensive and supportive learning environment, allowing rotation through therapist, client, and observer roles. Through this rotation, participants can gain a well-rounded understanding of the model's principles, practices and techniques while receiving feedback and guidance from a skilled IFS Practitioner and Certified Trauma Therapist during supervised practice sessions.

Regular meetings provide a platform for participants to discuss challenging issues and get feedback on their practice. This structure offers a comprehensive and supportive learning environment to help participants become skilled practitioners of the Concinnity principles and practices. The program is designed to help participants explore their internal systems alongside their clinical practice.

Weekly Structure

Week One 3 Hours

Teaching and Demonstrations

We will greet each other during our initial meeting and establish group guidelines. We will provide an overview of the integrated model, including the three types of parts we typically encounter in sessions, how parts show up in the body and introduce the concept of Self and Self-energy to work with and heal the system.

In the four teaching weeks, we will cover the following topics - Working with Protectors, Therapist Parts, Unburdening, Somatic Profiling and Encoding, Parts and Bodying mapping process. We will also explore introducing the model to new and existing clients.

Throughout the training, we will emphasise speaking for your parts rather than speaking from them.

To illustrate the concepts, we will ask a volunteer to participate in a demonstration. Following the demonstration, we will provide time for questions and answers. You will have the opportunity to work on your system during the demonstrations, as an IFS guide must understand their system beyond role-playing.

Please note that these sessions will be recorded and made available for future review at your convenience. To ensure confidentiality and safety, the session recording will only be provided to those who attended it.

Week Two and Three  3 hours

Practice

In the supervised session, you will work on the topic you have studied during week one of the teaching week.

In week two, the group will have a skilled IFS Practitioner present who will help you master the integrative model and work with the parts of yourself that arise along the way.

During Week 3, you will split into smaller practice groups of 3 or 4 practice, but without IFS Practitioner.

Practice groups will rotate through each of the four modules.

During Weeks 2 and 3 of the programme, you will get the chance to play three roles - therapist, client, and observer. As a therapist, you will have up to 45 minutes to practise the techniques learned in the course. You will also act as a client, where you will receive therapy from a fellow participant. Additionally, you will be an observer and take notes on the techniques used by your peers. After each practice session, there will be a 15-minute feedback and processing session, where you can discuss your experience and receive feedback from your peers.

Week Four 3 hours
Consultation Time

In this session, the entire group will come together, and you can ask any questions arising during your practice or from learning the theory. For example, we may decide to do a piece of work if we are having difficulty with a particular client or using the model. Additionally, we may explore your own parts that your clients may have triggered to help you gain clarity and unburden yourself.

This forum is an excellent opportunity to understand your therapist's parts better. You can bring up challenging issues like addictions, self-harming, difficulty with unblending or working with trauma.

Please note that these sessions will be recorded and made available for future review at your convenience. To ensure confidentiality and safety, the session recording will only be provided to those who attended it.
